Pop Up Valentine Card SVG – Easy Box Card
Valentine’s Day is my absolute favorite holiday for making cards with my Cricut. I love all the pink and red colors and heart designs. While I’ve made plenty of Valentine cards over the years, this is my first Valentine box card.

Learn how to make this Pop Up Card with Your Cricut!
Don’t let the look of this pop up card fool you, it’s actually very simple to put together. All it takes it a little gluing and folding and you’ll have a Valentine’s Day pop up card ready to give to your sweetheart.
Watch the step-by-step video tutorial to learn how to make this pop up Valentine box card here:
To Make this Valentine’s Day Card, You Will Need:
- Medium Weight Cardstock (Red, Blue, Pink, Green, Yellow and White). You can find all the colors you need in this variety pack.
- Scoring Stylus (which is what I will be using in this tutorial) or Scoring Wheel (Maker only). If your cutting machine doesnโt have the scoring feature, this scoring board and stylus is great to use.
- Cricut Pens – I have this pack so I always have the color I need on hand.
- A good paper craft glue – this Bearly Art craft glue is what I am using.
- Cricut Maker or Explore Cutting Machine and a cutting mat.

Step 1: Upload Valentine Box Card Template to Cricut Design Space
Upload the Valentine card SVG to Cricut Design Space. If you need help with uploading SVG files, then check out my tutorial here. Make sure to check the size of your project and adjust if needed. Click on the image (while everything is grouped together) and the width should be 35.394″ and the height 15.146″.
After resizing your project (if needed), click on “ungroup” to ungroup your layers.

Step 2: Modify Lines to Score and Cut
Click the drop down arrow for the first layer. Then click on the first layer and change the operation to from “Basic” to “Score”.

Then select the group with both layers (score line and layer underneath) and select “attach”. This will attach the score line to the layer it scores on so your Cricut knows where to score. Repeat this for all 6 of the red layers and the pink envelope layer (with the black rectangle).

Next, select “Make” and cut everything out. Remember to add your scoring tool to your cutting machine first.
Step 3: Glue on Hearts and other Decorative Pieces
Glue the conversation hearts to the layer they go on. The Be Mine heart needs to go on the layer with the 2 small cut outs for the B. It doesn’t matter where the other 3 conversation hearts go. Then glue XOXO to the XOXO layer leaving a small boarder around each letter.

Glue the white rectangle to the back of the card. You can use this area to write a message or leave the rectangle off if you don’t want to use it. Then glue the 2 side pieces on to the sides of the card facing the outside.

Step 4: Attach the Pop Up Card Together
To attach the pop up card together, place the Be Mine layer on top of the hearts layer upside down. Lay the tab piece down flat and line the outside up with the score line on the hearts layer. You also want to line this up with the bottom. While holding this in place, fold the tab piece up, add glue and then press this back down to attach.

Continue to repeat this step to line up the other 2 heart layers and then XOXO going tallest to shortest. You are lining each one up where the one before it left off. After gluing each one, fold it over to lay flat on top of each other.
Lay the 4 card layers down and apply glue to all 4 of the tab pieces on the other side.

Then press the side over to attach to the card. Press on this and let this dry for a minute or 2 before folding the card open. When you do fold the card open, guide the bottom right heart (HUGS in my design) in front of the side to keep it from getting stuck.

Last, attach the front of the card. Just add glue to the front and back of the tab pieces to attach this and glue the red rectangle with the Happy Valentine’s layer glued on top.

Step 5: Assemble the Envelope
To assemble the envelope, fold in on all 4 of the score lines. Then add glue to the 3 tab pieces and layer the other envelope piece on top.
Let the envelope dry before adding your card. I like to use a lighter weight paper for my envelopes. But, if you are mailing your card, then you may want to go with a medium weight cardstock instead.
