Shadow boxes are a lot easier to make than you probably think. Let your Cricut cut out all the designs and them layer them on top of each other in the correct order. If you prefer a 3D shadow box, just add foam tape between the layers.

Step 1: Upload Valentine’s Day Shadow Box SVG & Cut Everything Out

Upload the Valentine shadow box SVG to Cricut Design Space. If you need help with uploading SVG files, then check out my tutorial here. Make sure to check the size of your project and adjust if needed. If you are using the same shadow box that I am using, the project size should be 9.55″x9.55″. If using a different size, adjust accordingly. Cut everything out using your Cricut or Silhouette cutting machine.

Note: Make sure to measure the inside of the shadow box because this size is typically smaller than the shadow box size.

Step 2: Layer Designs on Top of Each Other

To assemble the design, you can either use foam tape, glue or a combination of both. I like mine to be more 3 dimensional so I use foam tape to separate most of the layers. The only layers that I glue is the orange on top of the light pink, just because I like the bird body to be more flat. But, you can assemble everything just the way you want it.

Lay your foam tape around each edge and place some on the inside as well to keep the inside from sinking in. Then layer the design on top of the next. Here is the order that you will layer the designs from bottom to top: blue, dark pink, light pink, orange, red, white, black, red and light pink.

Layer each piece using foam tape.

If you want the birds to be separate colors, then glue the bird cut out to the top of the hot pink layer.

Glue the bird colors on top of the birds.

Step 3: Place Picture In Shadow Box

When all your layers are attached, place the picture inside of the shadow box and decorate your house with it. This Valentine craft is so easy to make, it’s perfect for beginners but still looks like you spent a lot of time on it.
