How to Make a Valentine Throw Pillow with Your Cricut

When making throw pillows, I like to purchase a pillow insert and then pillow covers. This way, I don’t need to store a bunch of pillows to switch the throw pillow out each season. Instead, I just swap the cover out.

To make this Valentine throw pillow, I am using:

  • Lumbar Pillow Insert
  • Cushion cover for the pillow insert.
  • Iron on Vinyl – I always use Siser Easy Weed Vinyl – it goes on great and lasts! If you are just getting started with building up your vinyl supply, I recommend this variety pack. If you prefer glitter iron on vinyl, this variety pack is a great choice.
  • Cricut Maker or Explore cutting machine – Use this Cricut Comparison Guide to find the right model for you!
  • Weeding Tools for removing the excess vinyl.
  • Heat Press – You can also use an iron; however, I highly recommend a Cricut EasyPress to ensure that your designs will last and that you are using the proper heat settings for your materials – the included heat guide is super helpful for this so there is no guessing!

To make a Valentine throw pillow, create a new project in Cricut Design Space and then upload your SVG File.

If you are new with using iron on vinyl, check out this iron on vinyl tutorial for step-by-step directions.

Note: Always mirror your design and place the vinyl shiny side down when using iron on vinyl.
