Teacher Shaker Gift Box Instructions

Follow along with the tutorial below and make sure to post these in my crafting group here or tag me if you post them on social media. I absolutely love seeing your crafts and can’t wait to see how your ice cream boxes turn out.

Step 1: Upload the Shaker Gift Box Template to Cricut Design Space

Upload the teacher shaker gift box template to Cricut Design Space. For help with uploading SVG files, check out my tutorial here.

Click on “Ungroup” to ungroup all of your layers. You will need to modify a few of the layers. Starting with the box template, click on the arrow to show all layers. Then select the group of lines and change the operation from “cut” to “score”.

Then select the score line layer and box template layer together and select “attach” to attach these layers together. Next, repeat this for the other red box template side.

Note: If you are not using a scoring tool, delete these lines instead and fold everything by hand.

You will also need to modify the “paper” layer. To do this, click on the black box layer and change the operation from “cut” to “score”. Then select on the groups of lines and change the operation to “pen”. Then select all 3 layers together (the score layer, pen layer and paper layer) and select “attach” to attach these layers together.

Note: This step is slightly different if making the box template that isn’t a shaker card. The paper layer will only have the pen lines and not the score lines.

Step 2: Cut Everything Out

When cutting everything out, make sure to pay attention to the prompts in Cricut Design Space. Add your scoring stylus when prompted as well as your pen. For more instructions on using your scoring stylus, Cricut pens and cutting plastic, watch the video tutorial here.

Step 3: Glue Together Decorative Pieces

I recommend starting by gluing together all of the decorative pieces first so you don’t lose any of those little pieces. This includes the apple, teacher and pencil. You will assemble them just as you see in the picture below. And then glue them on top of the paper pieces.

Step 4: Attach the Clear Window

Then fold on the score lines on the paper. When you fold the score lines, you are folding both sides to the back. For the top and bottom, you will fold in on the first score line and then up on the second score line. So the piece should look like the image below.

Then fold on the 2 sides of the plastic where you see the cut outs and glue this to the front of the paper layer. And glue only one of the sides down. When gluing the clear plastic, the edge of the plastic will line up with the edge of the paper where you are gluing it.

Note: If you are making the box template without the shaker, you will skip this step, step 5 and step 7.

Step 5: Fill with Glitter & Sequins

Using the side that you haven’t glued down, gill the inside of this piece with glitter and sequins. And then glue the final side down.

Note: I like to use hot glue when gluing the plastic on so it dries quicker.

Make sure all edges are sealed so that the glitter cannot escape. To do this, take your glue and add glue to all of the corners and anywhere that glitter could escape from.

Step 6: Assemble the Box Structure

For the 2 box pieces, fold on all score lines so the pieces fold facing the inside of the box. The only exception is for the handle. You will fold the hand score line the opposite direction. Attach the box pieces together by gluing the tab piece to the INSIDE of the box. And then glue the decorative paper to the outside.

Step 7: Glue the Shaker to Box Template

Glue the shaker to the inside of the box template. The top and bottom will line up at the score lines and the sides as well. Before you glue, make sure this is centered so that all the score lines will still fold.

Step 8: Fold the Box together

To fold the box together, first fold the bottom over and then fold each side over the bottom piece. Take the last side and slide it into the rectangle opening.

Then add glue to the side tab piece and glue this to the inside of the box to hold everything together.

Step 9: Add the Rulers

The final step is to assemble the 2 rulers and glue them to the front of this gorgeous teacher gift box. To close the box, just slide the top into the side slots.
