What is the Best Vinyl for Making Shirts?
When making shirts with your Cricut or Silhouette, the vinyl that you use matters! This will make the difference between a shirt that lasts and one that you’ll get minimal use out of. If you’re making something for one-time use, then it makes sense to go with the budget vinyl, so I’ve included both my go to vinyl for professional shirts and my go to budget vinyl meant for limited wear.
- Siser EasyWeed Heat Transfer Vinyl – This vinyl lasts and is thinner than most vinyl, so it feels more professional than most. It looks great on shirts and is what I use the majority of the time.
- Siser Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl – This is the BEST glitter vinyl I have found and the only one I use. This brand lasts for years.
- CAREGY HTV Heat Transfer Vinyl Bundle – This bundle is great to keep on hand. It’s perfect for when you need small amounts of a variety of colors, so you don’t have to buy rolls for those. Grab this bundle so you’ll always have colors that you need available.
- This HTVRONT iron on vinyl is a good choice for a budget friendly vinyl if you just plan to wear your shirts for limited wear.
How to Make a Shirt with Cricut
Making shirts with your Cricut is a simple, but fun project! I recommend using a heat press when making these Easter shirts so that your designs look better and last longer. I use this EasyPress for my shirts and I love it!
To make shirts with your Cricut, create a new project in Cricut Design Space, then upload your SVG File and resize as needed. The size of the design will vary depending on the size shirt you are using. Just use a tape measure to measure the width you need for your design and change that in Cricut Design Space.
If you are new to making shirts, check out this iron on vinyl tutorial for step-by-step directions.
Note: Always mirror your design and place the vinyl shiny side down when using iron on vinyl.
