Materials Needed For This Panda Box
Creating this Valentine’s Day box is really easy to do and you only need a few supplies to make it:
- Empty Box – We used a snack pack Goldfish box to create this Valentine box
- White Paint – We used a white Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brush
- Panda File for Cutting or to use as a stencil (download below)
If using your Cricut Machine to cut the designs, you will need:
- Black Glitter Adhesive Vinyl
- Pink Glitter Adhesive Vinyl
- White Cardstock
- Transfer Tape *optional
- Glue
- Scraper Tool
If you are not using your Cricut, you will need black and pink construction paper. You can also paint the panda face on using black and pink paint. If you do this, you will still need the black construction paper for the ears.
How to Make This Panda Valentine’s Day Box with Your Cricut
Before cutting your designs, make sure to prepare your box. You will prepare your box by cutting a hole out of the top so that Valentine’s can easily be placed inside the box. Then, paint the box white. You will probably need to do 2 coats of white. When your box is dry, you can apply your vinyl designs.
To cut your vinyl designs, first upload your SVG file to Cricut Design Space and then click on “Make It.”
Prepare your mats as shown, placing the shiny or glitter side of the adhesive vinyl facing up. Select Continue and connect your Cricut Machine.
Click the flashing green arrow to load your mat and then the flashing “C” to cut your vinyl.
Once your image is cut, you will need to weed the excess vinyl.
After weeding your vinyl, transfer your black panda eyes and mouth to your transfer tape. You can apply each of these individually to your box, however, if you want it perfectly aligned, it’s easiest to use the transfer tape to do this. If you are having trouble with the transfer tape, use the scraper to help the vinyl stick to the transfer tape.
Now, add your adhesive vinyl pieces like stickers to your box!
To make the Panda Ears, you will need to cut just the ears out with your Cricut Machine on white cardstock paper. Attach the already cut black ear pieces to the cardstock and then glue the panda ears to your box.
